Islandis | Music Artists on Indie Accent

Islandis

c. 2015 | ORIGIN: SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

Entwining sun-kissed days on the beach with the endless rolling hills of a relaxed country adventure, Islandis brings James Chave-Dubois (East Sydney) and Ben McInerney (Country NSW) together to form something that blends land and sea. Formed in the depths of winter, Islandis is a brief moment of reflection across the years of escaped summers the two best mates have shared, whilst reveling in the excitement of the approaching warmth of a new season. Its nostalgia and anticipation rolled into a single emotion. Drawing influence from artists across time that have similarly embraced this moment, such as Belle and Sebastian, The Whitest Boy Alive, Mondo Rock and The Easybeats, Islandis are swirling guitars and delicate vocals floating across glistening percussion. Islandis’ debut release ‘Home’ is a place where all adventures begin and ultimately return, it is not just the first track from the pair but also a journal of escapism and a representation of the urgency of experience. Recorded in James’ and Ben’s home studios then mixed by Adrian Breakspear (Pharrel Williams, Gang of Youths, Ricky Martin), Home is the first track lifted off the duo’s debut EP set for release early 2016.
