Two Another on Indie Accent

Two Another

In a world where R&B acts like The Weeknd and Miguel have not only infiltrated but dominated the Top 40, a new space is opening up for the mainstream success of a subtler, quieter Motown sound. Enter British outfit Two Another. The band's self-titled EP traffics in the kind of infectious hooks that have us collectively falling back in love with genre, minus the disco-ball shimmer. Two Another is a blessing and a curse. It strings together the band's first few singles – "Higher," "Keep Me Under," and the excellent "Shouldn't Have Done That" – in just the right way, sprinkling each track with the perfect dose of 2016's sugary synth while nudging the laid-back, downtown flow of speakeasy days. Each tune is drizzled in sex appeal, catchy enough for repeat play but sleepy enough for a slow candle burn. Alas, after these three short, blissful tracks, the EP ends. What a heart-breaker, man.
