The first week of September started off nicely as Magical Feeeling brought a Californian rising star, Cuco to the stage of MS Hall at Viky Sianipar Music Center on Friday, September 7th. Cuco kicked off his Asian Tour in Jakarta before heading out to Singapore and Bangkok on the following days.

.

To get it started, South Jakartan rapper Kareem Soenharjo as known as BAP spit some serious fire with a few of his songs like “Flamingo Days,” “Come Hell or High Water,” and “Bad Decisions.” On some songs like “Desires,” he even got the crowd up on their feet and chanting. Alongside his fellow musician Kara Cheona, BAP succeeded at warming the crowd up before they got to the main dessert. Down to his last set, the 22-year-old spontaneously throw an impromptu rap battle that captivated all the attention in the building.

.

Not long after, Cuco’s fellow band members came out to the stage one-by-one, each greeted with excitement from the flock of people and as it builds up, the cheers broke the ceiling when a certain figure entered the stage. It was none other than the Mexican-American singer, Omar Banos that goes by his stage name, Cuco. Wearing a simple white-tee and his signature black beanie, the 20-year-old immediately revived the atmosphere with “Lonelylife” from his 2016 EP, “Wannabewithu.”

The multi-instrumentalist musician continued the performance with one of his hits “Dontmakemefallinlove” as the hyped-up crowd sang at the top of their lungs. Even Cuco was taken aback with this as he said, “Wow, you guys know all the words.”

With bubblegum-ish lighting, the teenage heartthrob sang “One and Only” alongside his Indonesian fans. He doesn’t slow down and got the party bopping to his synth-filled youthful anthem “Summer Time High Time” from his EP “Chiquito.” Maintaining to compel the crowd, Cuco sang his most well-known song to date, “Lo Que Siento.” The crowd was full on chanting the Spanglish love lyrics from the dreamy tune and to top it off Cuco did a serene trumpet solo. Trumpet being one of the first instrument he learned to play when he was in his school’s marching band.

.

“You guys are fucking cool,” the Chicano exclaimed before carrying on with the rest of his set that includes a reggae-infused “Neon Baby” and another romantic-nuanced Spanish song, “Amor de Siempre.” The performance kept getting better with the ultimate young love hymn, “Lover Is a Day” that include Cuco’s typical laidback sing-talking. The singer got lost in the moment and stage-dived upbeat hip hop track, “Lucy.”

He ended his first ever show in Jakarta with the heavily induced drum beats track “CR-V” and one of his melancholic and emotional love tunes “Sunnyside.” Besides Banos’ electrifying performance, the crowd on this gig did a great job at upholding the excitement. The performer and the fans was feeding off each other’s energy and the result was magnificent.
