Exploration of Clairo's Sexuality in Her Single "Sofia"

.

The 20-year-old singer continues to dominate the pop market with her debut LP "Immunity". The so called "bedroom pop" and a self-taught musician with bundles of talent, displayed her song-writing ability in this album, especially in this song, my favorite song from the album, "Sofia".

This song is a tale of the actualization of her sexuality in her recognizable vocal range. “I think we could do it if we try / If only to say good night / Sofia know that you and I shouldn’t feel like a crime,” She sings of budding queer love over heavily distorted guitar riffs and crunchy drum line supplied by Danielle Haim, full of emotion and longing.

Speaking on the track Clairo had this to say;
"Sofia is a song about my sexuality and about having a relationship with another woman. it’s also touching on celebrity crushes with older women like Sofia Coppola and Sofia Vergara,"

Produced with former Vampire Weekend multi-instrumentalist Rostam, "Sofia" shows a new side of Clairo's music. An indie-pop delight featuring uptempo beats and soaring harmonies, "Sofia" is a welcome return and a great way to kick off your weekend.
