Jakarta based electronic duo, Mothern, have a bit of a reputation for alternative/electronic music. And so, it's no surprise that their new song "Circle" leans toward the experimental side of electronica.
This song showcases musical exploration of Mothern in terms of electronic music, it’s repetitive in nature but all that works out well in the context of electronic. The focus of the song takes a careful balance between Mothern previous pop sensibilities and their experimental sound.
It’s less about the lyrics than the intangible feelings of atmosphere & mood, a song to get lost in the arbitrary textures and distorted vocal layers. Even though Mothern is focusing their experiments in electronic music, they still show their roots in Pandu Priyanto’s guitar licks, incorporated with electronic-based synthesizer soundscapes from Rastafarian. -CF
