REAKTAN
by ZAT KIMIA

"High quality album from Balinese group"

PART OF CANDU BARU ALBUM
RELEASED ON 2017

Indie Accent Talks segment brought me here. Two of the three bands that we've interviewed shouted out for this band (a little spoiler over there). Yep, they shouted out for this Bali-based band, Zat Kimia. If from the name of the band you immediately remembered on Musik Kimia, maybe the music can be quite similar. But in terms of lyrics and content, I can say they are very different. "Candu Baru" is the name of their debut album, introducing themselves to the music scene with Indonesian songs.
As a music nerd, I realize that making a song with Indonesian lyrics that don’t sound cheesy is harder than writing lyrics in English or maybe other languages. And in this album, they try to prove that they have that quality. The song on the clip above, Reaktan, is an example. Providing insight that Indonesian songs are not just about love, dawn, and coffee.
