YOUR TENDERNESS
by THE DRUMS

"The Drums music is more mature than before"

PART OF ABYSMAL THOUGHTS ALBUM
RELEASED ON 2017

After Jacob Graham officially left the band, I think we can no longer call “The Drums” as a band, but rather to call it a solo act, since Johnny Pierce is truly on his own now. Pierce was in charge for the whole fourth album, titled “Abysmal Thoughts” which was released earlier June this year. With this heartbreaking breakup, however, in terms of music, The Drums is still The Drums. You can still listen to the sound of a rubbery guitar and airy vocals that influenced by the 50s melodies. Yet what mesmerized me the most is the fact that The Drums music is more mature than before. Pierce pay more attention to detail that makes the song become different and fresh, such as the sound of saxophone, which he adds up on one of his tracks, “Your Tenderness.” I can say that I feel content with the whole album even though The Drums is no longer complete.
