DEATHCATCHER
by MAD MADMEN

"There is a lot going on here for this duo"

PART OF MENTAL BREAKDANCE ALBUM
RELEASED ON 2021

This Jakarta based eclectic group has always possessed the talent of sticking to their rock background while incorporating elements like jazz, progressive, and experimental, all blended together. Mad Madmen finally released their debut album featuring nine songs which they created since 2019 titled, “Mental Breakdance”.

After my first listen to this album as a whole, (yeah we’re very lucky to to get the full digital recording of this album from Mad Madmen) the song which caught my ear is this effervescent jazz-meets-rock-meets-reggae single titled, “DEATHCATCHER”. In this song you can definitely see their calculated composition and execution are clean and chaotically controlled, making for a slightly heavy and even more slightly obscure combination of various genres.

This duo also manages to inject a dose of psych-pop accessibility, making their album both unique and an incredibly fun listen. There is a lot going on here for this duo, they create an expansive and vibrant journey throughout the album. They released their debut album in physical form so make sure you get this album immediately.
