ROCKY TRAIL
by KINGS OF CONVENIENCE

"A recognizable vocal set the scene from the very first start"

PART OF PEACE OR LOVE ALBUM
RELEASED ON 2021

It's finally coming. After a couple years of silence, Norwegian folk pop duo, Kings of Convenience, have released their long awaited new album after twelve years. “Peace or Love” will be out on 18 June, and they’ve also released the first taste of the album, a wonderful, the kind of light, effortless song titled, “Rocky Trail”. From the very first listen i knew that it was going to be a personal favorite. And here I am on my 20th listen, finally getting around to sharing it with you.

I notice there's always a refined sense from them in the way the track incorporates their folk/pop, never going for the immediate or obvious route, and it also reflected in this track. A recognizable vocal set the scene from the very first start, with lyrics that depict a love for someone, an unfamiliar sentiment, yet it's heard familiar.

The duo consists of Eirik Glambek Bøe and Erlend Øye have been working on the album for five years and recorded it in five different cities, including Gothenburg, Sweden, Santiago, Chile and Berlin. The album also features old friend Feist, who was also on 2004's Riot on an Empty Street, on a few songs. Kings of Convenience have also announced a European tour, set to kick off on September 19 with a performance in their hometown of Bergen, Norway.
