SUGAR

There’s something in Men I Trust’s songs that always hooked me from the very first listen, and this one is not an exception. “Sugar” is a single by Montreal based group, which highlights Emmanuelle Proulx's gorgeous vocals, with the melodic guitar that leaving you wanting more.

This song is taken from their fourth full-length, “The Untourable Album”, an album which they written during the 2020 lockdown. Here’s part of the band’s note announcing the project:
“We started working on this album amidst the global lockdown and didn’t expect to be able to “tour” these songs. We wanted to take the opportunity to work on new and different material, without necessarily intending to play these songs live. We wrote freely, as if we were suspended in time with no external attachments.”

The track sparkles quietly, it has this jazz-inspired dream-pop instrumentation that really interesting, and it’s clear why Men I Trust have cemented themselves as an act to look forward to.
